This redevelopment of a brownfield site in Horsham, for Saxon Weald Housing, sought to make good use of an underused site, providing 22 flats and houses in a mix of shared ownership and affordable rented properties. We worked closely with the client and Horsham District Council to develop a suitable proposal for this sensitive residential site. Planning was granted in 2019 with the build progressing to site immediately after. The site had 2 pairs of existing semi-detached houses and extensive overgrown rear and side gardens which gave the site an unkept and rundown appearance. Our proposal removed the existing houses and made more efficient use of the land, the extensive garden spaces and the corner setting. We liaised closely with the council’s urban design officer, planning teams and local ward members to develop a scheme that was finally submitted for planning and granted consent by Committee.
Post planning we worked with the chosen contractor to develop the working drawings and support during the site stage.
