The construction of a new retirement living housing development to provide 67 dwellings consisting of 65 apartments and 2 cottages with supporting communal, administrative and ancillary accommodation. The site, owned by Wealden District Council, was occupied by a residential block of accommodation built in the 1980’s and a bowling green which is leased by Uckfield Bowling Club to the east. Detailed discussions essential layout design principles which governed the setting and arrangement of the new building. The existing building on site did not meet current standards for older people’s housing, and the scheme was granted planning permission in March 2016.
